I wanted to write a brief summary for The Wolf Man, since I saw it last weekend. I know, I know – you’re wondering why I’m writing a review of a movie that’s over two weeks old. Who bothers with a movie after the opening weekend anymore? Well let me tell you suckers – I DO.
Apologies for the delay on this one. This is my final list for a while, and I am not writing much for these films. However, I hope that the choices speak for themselves and encourage anyone reading to leave a comment. This will hopefully lead to more discussion…
Alright I really need to start speeding through these lists because I’ve been delayed for so long now. I took my time with the first three, and now the lists will begin to overlap. That being said, if a show was covered on a previous list I’ll only briefly mention some points about it. Compiling a list for 2009 was a challenge because I could not split up hour longs and half-hour longs. It cannot be done. There are (sadly) not ten shows in either length that could make separate best-of 2009 lists. Thus, the way this list will work is the first six shows are in the hour long category and are ranked accordingly. The last four are the comedies and they too are ranked accordingly. If you feel so inclined, think of it as a Top Six of 2009 in Drama (1 being the best and 6 being, well 6th) and a Top Four of 2009 in Comedy (7 being the best and 10 being, well 10th). Oh, and the shows that had a season that started in 2008 and ended in 2009 I am considering as just 2009. You’ll see the corresponding season next to the show.
I should never have promised so many lists. These things are tedious. At any rate, I’m continuing on, this time with the half-hour shows of the decade that I loved. Before I begin the list it should be noted that I divided hour long and half-hour long because I felt that all of my original “best of” list omitted too many comedies. I have always been more of an hour long episodic drama type of guy, but I still do love me some comedy. With this list I did have trouble finding 10 shows that I truly enjoyed (again, drama is my THANG) so there is one cheat on the list, as I have not yet been able to see the show but am sure that I would love it. The criteria matches the list for hour long’s of the decade, except on this list there are only two cancelled shows (at least as of now).
Here is an incredibly moving account of Roger Ebert and how he has dealt with the loss of his lower law. (Esquire)
My girlfriend has a funny story of a guy taking her to see The Transporter on a date. Here’s a list of some other movie date missteps. (Slate)
Apparently there is a movie where Ben Stiller doesn’t act like a complete Jackass. (Salon)
I try and avoid the kind photos taken directly from an episode, but I know Matt likes to get as much information as he can. There are some nice looking shots, especially number four. (AMC-Breaking Bad)
This is the last season of Lost. I know some of you will be sad you see it go, and in a way I will too. It will be nice to finally have the questions answered, though. Maybe I’ll be able to stop taking my anti-anxiety medication. Here is David Lindelof being cryptic. (Collider)

I’ve been reading The Ascent of Money by Niall Ferguson and it is an utterly fascinating book. It tells the history behind the modern financial system. As someone without a finance background some of the terms are a little confusing, but the main ideas are easily understood. Everyone should read this book if only to understand what the hell has been going on this past year.
For this episode we review some of the best dramas on television. Included is a lengthy discussion about Breaking bad and how much Nick is sick of 24. Nick also tells some lame jokes that Casey pretends to laugh at. Friendship! Also, Matt talks about CSI.
In this episode we will be talking about some of the sci-fi shows that were on this past season or have recently started up. Get ready for some intense Lost discussion, some vaguely interested Warehouse 13 rambling and Matt totally fucking up his one word Battlestar Galactica review.
Ready for something that has NOTHING to do with Valentines Day and EVERYTHING to do with drugs and guns?
YES?????
Well here is a brief summary of the show The Wire, created by David Simon and shown on HBO. It’s a five season series, and its fantastic! I’m trying to get Nick and Matt to pay some credence to it, mostly just so I can talk to them about it, but so far they seem uninterested…
People in relationships should express their love everyday. But, for those who forget, mandated love day is coming up. This means that many of you will be watching romantic movies at some point. The problem is that there are very few of these movies that don’t completely suck. Now, I like Sleepless in Seattle as much as the next guy, providing the next guy is a women, but I am outside of the norm. So, as a public service I have created a list of 10 movies that have a romantic element without beating you over the head with it. This list is in no particular order.
There are some actors that never seem to break from their most identifiable roles. Some however are able to find that balance of timing and skill in order to free themselves from the established mold. Pajiba has a list up of some of the best examples of this. (Pajiba)
Movies based on games, in general, suck. However as the medium has developed the depth and intricacy of the story have developed as well. Could there be a time when a movie based on a video game isn’t terrible? One person seems to think so. (Hollywood) Side Note: My vote for video that should be turned into a movie is Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
Quentin Tarantino is a divisive character. There are those that adore him and those that can’t stand him. Personally I tend to shift back and forth from movie to movie. One of the key questions about him is whether he is contributing something meaningful or simply making well crafted movies. (Salon)
It is an unfortunate truth that romantic comedies have become extremely predictable, “High Concept” (Read Idiotic) formulas. What ever happened to the When Harry Met Sally’s? Anyway, here is a list of the people in romantic comedies who probably should have died alone. (Av Club)

There doesn’t appear to be anything worth watching coming out this weekend. So, in liu of a trip to the cinema why don’t you rent season one of Psych instead. It is all kinds of fun.
